The Legacy of the Samurai Tea Farm
Established in 1869, Yamamotoen (山本園) Farm was founded by former Samurai who served the Tokugawa Shogunate. After the Meiji Restoration, these warriors laid down their swords to cultivate the wild plains of Makinohara. Today, the 5th generation owner continues this spirit, crafting teas that won the Best Award at Japanese Tea AWARD 2023.
The Magic of “Roast” Wakocha
This is not your typical black tea. Made from the Benifuuki cultivar—a rare hybrid of Japanese and Indian tea bushes—the leaves are harvested in summer and subjected to a heavy roast.
This unique process transforms the crispness into a deep, jammy sweetness reminiscent of stone fruits and honey.
Brewing Guide
To unlock the full fruity and roasted profile, we highly recommend using filtered water. This tea is crafted for the soft water of Japan; using a filter ensures the vivid, delicate scents shine through exactly as Yamamoto-san intended.
